What Is Telepathy?

Telepathy is a form of non-verbal communication, a direct exchange of thoughts and messages between people without words. People often describe it as mind reading, but it’s much more ordinary than that.

You call a friend. They answer, “That’s so weird! I was just thinking of calling you.” In reality, the conversation had already started telepathically before you picked up the phone. It was running in the background of your awareness until thoughts of your friend came to the front. You got the message and called.

Most Telepathy Is Unconscious

For most people, telepathy happens without them realizing it. They send and receive messages all day, and sometimes that leads to confusion.

You’re trying to make an important decision and you hear a familiar voice in the back of your head, advising you. Should you do what it says? But doesn’t that voice sound familiar? A little like your mother? Without awareness, you miss that the voice is a telepathic communication. You listen, and you make the choice your mother wanted you to make.

Other times, telepathy is background chatter. You find yourself arguing with a friend in your head long after the real conversation ended. It goes back and forth, just on the edge of awareness. After hours of this, you might wonder why you’re still arguing. The spoken conversation ended. The telepathic one didn’t.

Sensitive telepaths can walk around in conversation with a great many people and never give it a second thought. But it takes a toll. Keeping up with that many conversations is exhausting and takes up a lot of space. It’s a little like having an active call center in the middle of your head.

Signs Your Telepathy Is Already Working

  • You think of someone right before they call or text.

  • You keep having conversations in your head after the real one is over.

  • You know what someone is going to say before they say it.

  • You hear a familiar voice giving you advice when you’re deciding something.

  • You can tell what a baby, a pet or a loved one needs without being told.

  • Your head feels “noisy,” even when it’s quiet around you.

How to Develop Telepathy

Notice it

Because most people don’t realize they’re communicating telepathically, awareness is the first step. Yes, that voice is your mother’s. That “internal dialogue” with your friend is a telepathic conversation.

Learn to tell it from your own thoughts

This is the big question: is it telepathy, or just me? With practice, you learn to recognize whose energy a thought carries. Other people’s messages have a different feel than your own.

Turn off the ringer

When you know what you’re sending and receiving, you can take a break whenever you choose, like turning off the ringer in your head. Then you can choose the conversations you want to be in.

Make room for your own voice

Telepathy can also help you tune into the frequency that belongs to you: your inner voice. It’s an important source of guidance, and it’s easily drowned out by everyone else. Creating a quiet space to listen to yourself helps you find your own answers.

Quick Answers

Is telepathy real?

Most people have had at least one experience of it, like thinking of someone right before they call. We see telepathy as a natural form of communication that you can become more conscious of.

Can you read someone’s mind with telepathy?

Telepathy isn’t about reading minds. It’s about becoming aware of the communication that’s already happening, so you can read between the lines and communicate with intention.
